Obtrusive ads on the site: looking into it

Hi, a few people have been reporting that the ads on the site are larger and more obtrusive than normal. I have not made any changes, but we use an ad placement service which uses AI, so it sometimes starts changing settings and placements on its own. As a result, I do not fully control where the ads appear; the ad network does.

I am contacting the ad network support today to see what can be done about it. They might have rolled out a change which can be reversed. This has happened a few times before.

Without ads, this site would not exist because it costs hundreds of dollars a month to keep online. However, I don’t want massive, annoying ads either. Thank you for your patience as I figure out what’s happening.

@REDj3llYBumblebee: thank you. We do need ads, but there was a particularly enormous desktop ad that I didn’t authorize, plus there was one breaking the site layout. So I had to do something.

The massive “sponsored content” ad is gone. I believe the one on the very top destroying the site layout on desktop is also gone. The ad network told me how to use a special tool so that I can remove other ones, so I’ll be looking out for any weird ones and removing those over the coming weeks as they appear.

I've changed what I can in the ad settings but I'm not sure it's helping so I have contacted support.
