Attaching a Zipper to a Bag?

Hi!! I’m working on a gift for my friend and I need to attach a zipper to it but I’m not sure how? Could anyone help me

@cryptkeepsake: I never thought of that! I have several old pencil cases that are going yellow. I should rescue the zippers.

@Phosfate: oh absolutely - seam ripping zippers off of old pencil pouches and backpacks and stuff to them to put them on new projects,,, it's so fun and it's a cheap revamp material to come by.

@cryptkeepsake: This. Zippers look scary, but the first time you do it you will feel like the boss of zippers and start looking for things to put them on.

if this is for a kandi bag, after lacing the entire bag (minus the zipper), use a needle and sewing thread (not kandi string because it can either be too thick and warp the integrity of the zipper). sewing a whip stitch or blanket stitch connecting the fabric part of the zipper through the beads along the edge together. be careful to leave some margins between the plastic/metal parts of the zipper and the edge of the beaded bag because you need space to zip it up, and i would sew it so the outside of the zipper fabric is flush against the inside part of the bag (so it looks more "invisible," like a zipper you would see on a jacket). hope this helps !!
