i used a 30 bead single to make a 1 x base cuff. i did not cut off the excess string when i was done. instead, i added 4 pony beads, then 5 tribeads (4 pony beads can also be used), and skipped 1 connector bead, threading through the next one. after i went all the way around the top of the cuff, i moved my string down the inside of the x's so it would be poking out of the bottom. i would then add 4 pony beads, go through all the tribeads, coming out on the other side to finish the petal with another 4 pony beads. i tied it off once i made all of them and that's how it keeps its shape!
