Pattern uploads: let users vote for which are featured on the site?

Our current system of approving patterns causes a lot of good patterns to be missed and never put on the site, as I'm sure many of you have noticed (when your own patterns weren't approved) If I set up a page where you the users could vote on all the appropriate uploaded patterns to choose which are published onto the main site, would any of you bother to vote? I'd make it so you could vote on many from one page.

Sorry, you are unable to reply. If the thread is still open, you might have been blocked from commenting due to spam or abuse, or we might not have been able to verify that you are a real account. Try updating your profile and interacting more on the site. There are greater restrictions on forum comments due to spam. Spam comments will still not be published, even for verified accounts

yes, yes 1,000 times yes!!! we all need an equal opportunity to vote for the patterns to be showcased on this website. (I know that sounded pretty cheezy, but hey...it's something...)

Yeah, it's going well so far. There are a lot of patterns getting through which probably wouldn't have otherwise. I've been surprised by some of the patterns which people have voted up. There is at least one problem with this method though: high-quality patterns that are of less popular things don't get as many votes. So in cases like that I think the votes have to be overruled. Otherwise we will only ever have patterns of popular things.

So far I totally love this idea. Though it is still in its infant stages I look forward to seeing how it develops and helps the site develop.

Lucy, I wasn't planning on adding this feature for a while because I've been too busy working on other things for the site which I think are more important (like a much improved pattern maker). However I had a bit of spare time today so I set up a voting page: http://kandipatterns.com/vote-on-patterns The problem is that I can't make any rules for how many votes get a pattern approved until I've seen how many people actually vote. So for now when you vote, nothing will be automatically approved but patterns which seem to be getting a lot of votes will be approved by the moderators. Later on, I will make a rule like "Patterns which receive X number of votes in X days will be approved." I might also add a "Vote down" option later on if it's needed, but I feel like that might hurt people's feelings.

I am still planning on trying this out. I just have to finish a large project I'm working on before I can set it up
