New forum rules? Opinions wanted

As many of you know, there was some drama in the forum over the weekend. Up until now, my attitude was to allow all discussions (except for the small list of forbidden ones: self harm, violence, eating disorders, suicide, doxxing, and kandi trades) and try to delete threads as little as possible, basically only if I received several reports for it and it was clearly causing problems. After this weekend, I'm questioning that. I don't want to shut down legitimate discussions about identities, but I also don't want this to be a toxic place where people get so upset that they feel they have to delete their accounts. We're here to talk about kandi, not fight with each other.

How would you all prefer that the moderators handle things? I'll give you a few options, but you can also propose other ideas if you have any:

1) Continue on as we are, rarely deleting anything
2) Continue to allow all posts, but delete any which may cause drama or are already causing drama
3) Delete all threads about certain topics.... but which topics? Maybe identity-related discourse and anything that obviously invalidates anyone?

I'm logging off shortly because I live in England and it's almost my bedtime, but I will read any replies tomorrow. Thank you 513b55c735fb9_kao_smile.gif

2 would be the best choice in my opinion. Everyone should be allowed to say what they want on the forums and chat with people and make friends, but if a post seems like it could cause drama or there's already people getting upset at it and making drama, it should be taken down immediately to keep this site safe for people who just want to enjoy their time here.

Also some more topics that should be taken down if posted on forums are ones that are very debatable and serious, for example religious beliefs and political views. A couple people could get into a big argument in the comments over something and the drama could spread throughout the forums like it did this weekend.

@catnoirmybeloved: That's kind of what I'm leaning towards. We could always change it at a later date if it wasn't enough.

And yes, we're getting new forum moderators kao smile If anyone else is interested, please message me, although I'm going to prioritize the messages I already received because I'm assuming those came from people who are highly engaged with the site (since they saw a comment buried in a random thread). I'm also not assigning any powers until the weekend so I might not reply until then.

I need to beef up the moderator powers because right now I think I'm the only one that can turn on post/comment approvals for people, but that will take a bit of time to set up.

2 seems like the best option imo

2 would probably be the best decision. if it starts to show even the smallest signs of getting out of hand, delete it.

I think number two would be a good option, especially if there are going to be new forum moderators
