Trying a new ad service

Hi everyone,

I had a scare the other week where I thought we were going to lose the ads on the site. That’s a problem because the ads pay for the hosting and other services which cost hundreds of dollars a month. In my panic, I signed up for an alternative ad service (which ended up being linked to the original one, but that’s another story).

It turns out we don’t need that ad service (not yet anyway), but they’re encouraging me to try it so I’m going to give it a go. I don’t know what’s going to happen. There could temporarily be some annoying ads on the site, but I won’t allow those to be here long term. There could also be some temporary errors.

They claim this service can help boost ad revenue. If it does, then I could potentially hire a developer to help with the things that need doing on the site. There’s too much work for just one person, but I can’t afford to hire help. But it might not end up helping. I don’t know yet. Fingers crossed.

Little known fact: in the early days of the site, I had more money (due to still living with my parents) and hired a few different developers to work on the site. The original Flash pattern maker was made by a developer I hired.

I just wanted to give you a heads up about what’s happening so you don’t see strange ads and think the site has been hacked or something.
