I've noticed there's but a lot of confusion between scene and scenecore! Many people don't realize that they're two different things which really hurts the two communities. E.X. scenekids calling scenecore people posers because they accidentally call themselves scene. If you're confused if whether you're scene or scenecore I'm here to help distinguish between them!! and just so you know I'm not talking in a conversation I'm not part of I am scene!

Here's some differences!

Scenecore rainbowsmile

  • Heavily inspired by rainbowcore, glitchcore, and scene.
  • Lots of rainbows and neons way more colorful than scene is.
  • Born from TikTok culture.
  • Some popular scenecore things are: Bunny hats, Monster cans, Demonias, Butterfly Hairclips
  • Several scenecore artists are 100 Gecs, Penelope Scott, H3artcrush, pretty much hyperpop, speedcore, and glitchcore

Scene tama

  • Takes from emo and rave culture.
  • Usually black and an accent color like pink or green. Mostly keeps a minimal palette.
  • Born from MySpace culture.
  • Some popular scene things are Hair Bows, Studded Belts, Raccoon Stripe Hair Extentions, Converse.
  • Several scene artists are S3RL, Bring Me The Horizion, Hollywood Undead, mostly pop punk, metalcore, and crunkcore.

"I still don't understand the differences." cry

perhaps these images could help distinguish it? [1] [2] [3]

One important thing to keep in mind is that these both include kandi!!! You don't need to identify with either of these to make kandi!!

Basic Q&A kao confused

Q] Do I need to be [x] to like its music? A] No not at all!

Q] Can I be both? A] Of course!! You don't need to stick to one thing! feel free to experiment! do what makes you most happy!

Q] Is [x] better than [y]? A] Nope!! They are both valid and wonderful in their own ways!

Q] Can I like things from [x] and not be [x]? A] Totally!! You don't need to be a certain aesthetic to like parts of it!!!

Are you scenecore or scene as well? Or do you have any questions I didn't cover? Please reply and let me know!! I'm here to help!! PLUR! <3

scene core literally just refers to the aesthetic of someone who is scene or scene fashion or stuff like that. they aren't two separate things. and the stuff listed under scenecore isn't scene stuff at all- nor is the music necessarily. I would say the things you called scenecore are just things that fall under the general "alt" umbrella. But scene and scenecore arent two separate things. that's just my opinion though.

scene and scenecore are the same thing, a lot of the stuff you're putting under "scenecore" ARE traditional scene things, just amped up a bit. a lot of trad scene kids (especially scene queens) were very decora kei adjacent. the "scenecore" of today is just a mix of glitchcore/decora/kidcore, while occasionally being scene related. doesn't mean it's "scenecore", just means it is what it is. "scenecore" is literally just another term for scene or an aesthetic relating to scene (hence the core)

@trickster_brostrider: /nm, and this is coming from a long time alt kid. OH ALSO hypercore/nightcore/speedcore type shit are very much traditional scene things, just look at literally any 11 yr old from 2006's music taste (or my music taste in 2016 lol). there's 2 sides of the scene community, one more metal and one more hyperpop. they're both traditionally scene!

and penelope scott is indie, definitly not "scene" (just because she's a tiktok artist doesn't make her scenecore)

@trickster_brostrider: hai i think op meant the way people use her music? yea i know she may describe herself as indie music but im pretty sure op just meant the way people use it. idk if that makes sense? an example could be how gerard way didnt describe his music as emo but the reason lots of ppl think of mcr when they think of emo is because the kinds of ppl that listen to it and the way people use it.. i hope this made it a little clearer. ok bai

im personally very much on da classic scene side of da spectrum, but i think yall scenecore ppl r super cool!

Sep 26, 2021 7:41 pm

im both described things but i really wouldn't consider penelope scott scene

@XxbloodyloveheartzxX: Her music on its own isn't really, no. But shes a rather large staple within the scenecore community. I find her quite frequently within scenecore playlists so she definitely influences it quite a bit. happy

@RavenTheRaver: just bcs scenecore kids listen to her doesn't mean SHE is scenecore, she's not lol. just bcs the artist says their one thing doesn't mean ppl can't interprate it as another, yes, but penelope scott isn't even close to being what say, 100 gecs is.
