i have several horror movie topics i can rant about for hours take ur pick

1. queer horror history

2. general slasher history and trends and why

3. why i dont like zack snyder films and why the original dawn of the dead is significantly better (like seriously that guy completely changed the trends of zombie movies to go from social commentary to shooty shooty bang bang action movies. the original dawn of the dead was kind and melancholy and the people who took the opportunity to murder people because of the apocalypse were the bad guys- in the remake they're the only hope)

4. old so bad its good horror movies like theres this one really bad crossover of nightmare on elm street and friday the 13th where jason and freddy fight and its amazing i love it SO much 10/10 there used to be a trend in old horror movies where theyd just stop the story and inject a bad music video cause "thats what the kids watch nowadays right" and i love them so much theyre terrible i love them

oi! im ava im 13 and my pronouns are she/they i also play mc (but who doesn't?) i literally like all the shows you listed lolz, i like drawing but im not that good at it, i like to sing and play teh drums (im pretty basic lolz) also i play xbox too <3

so most of the older queer horror movies had queer people as villains right? cause of the hays code banning "immoral" things as to not corrupt the youth

so most queer rep started being done through coding (even though some was pretty explicit, see nightmare on elm street 2)

but the hays code still liked it if you villainized the gay, so thats how you end up with tons of popcorn gay horror movies, or things like Psycho, where the main villains were trans or queer n stuff (most of the time the two were conflated)

but there are TONS of queer readings that you can do to different bits of horror

like especially with books

carrie was definitely gay and i love her

but there are also a lot of horror movies that have good representation and are very kind to their queer characters

HIGHLY recommend jennifers body or fear street i love them so much

my personal theory is that we were able to see ourselves in the genre, even if it was being demonized, and latched onto that and went "yea this would be better if it was explicitly gay" and it IS

im rambling but. yno

trying to mostly skip over the transphobia and homophobia in public so cant rlly talk about old slashers
