Am I the only person experiencing this?

It’ll randomly say that I have like anywhere from 4 to 57 new comments on something but when I click on it there’s nothing new and it’s strange????

Sorry, you are unable to reply. If the thread is still open, you might have been blocked from commenting due to spam or abuse, or we might not have been able to verify that you are a real account. Try updating your profile and interacting more on the site. There are greater restrictions on forum comments due to spam. Spam comments will still not be published, even for verified accounts

I've identified the cause of this now. For some reason, the caching system we use isn't clearing cached notification counts like it's supposed to. I can see that it's counting the notifications correctly, but then it's disregarding that and using the incorrect value from the cache. Sadly, I have run out of time to troubleshoot it this weekend because I'm headed over to my parents' house for Father's Day, but I'll be back at it next weekend.

[edit] I've attempted a fix actually. I'll leave it like this for a while and see if it's any better. Temporarily locking thread to draw attention to this comment. Looks like thread locking isn't properly set up - reply/edit buttons aren't disabled - but it's close enough for now

yeah it just said i had 10 comments and there was nothing new :/

sometimes it says that i have over 30 and when i check, theres only one new one

yes, it’s been happening to me too. I just haven’t had a chance to look into it yet. I’ve added some logging so that I can track down what’s happening.

Has this only recently started happening or has it been happening for months? I can’t remember how long it’s been happening to me.

I wrote most of this site in a week when I was new to this coding language, so random issues pop up occasionally.

YES- IT ALWASY SAYS I HAVE 2 COMMENTS NO MATTER WHAT- AND IF I GET 1 COMMENT IT WILL SAY I HAVE 3, OR JUST ADD 2 TO HOWEWEVR MANY COMMENTS I HAVE

no it’s not just u it happens to me all the time i get like 4+ notifs and everything is the same :-)
