i'm looking to get into cosplay, and i already have some plans laid out for who i want to cosplay and what i'd need, but i was wondering if anyone had any tips for beginner cosplayers? :0

go crazy!! cosplay is about having fun, not being canon, wanna wear 193938 pounds of kandi? go ahead!! wanna wear petticoats?? yes!!!, etc!

the cosplay community isn't the best so,,, be ready for new people to be cancelled every week

using your real hair/closet cosplays are AMAZING!!

be nice to everyone, dont be ableist, racist, etc!!

borrow cosplays from friends! its so much cheaper than buying more and its pretty fun to cosplay with friends, go to thrift stores and look on ebay for cheap accessories. cosplay however you want and dont get discouraged by people who say your not "canon" enough or that the character wouldnt dress like that, also support other cosplayer! smaller cosplayers really appreciate positive comments and such

amazon! they have a lot of cheap wigs to experiment/use for cosplay , I suggest the brand MapOfBeauty! i suggest you also learn how to sew so you can get stuff from thrift stores and alter them for ur character!

ACCESSORIES!! Don't be afraid to add ~flavor~ to the character. Kandi, pins, little makeup details like scars or freckles, stickers, etc

you don't need money!! a lot of ppl r saying you need money but there r so many great alternatives. PAPER WIGS!!! I've been a cosplayer since I was eight. paper wigs are not only fun and look sick, but they're also really cheap and you don't get hairspray everywhere. you don't need "cannon" outfits or wigs. just have fun. i had so much more fun after I realized that not every cosplay has to look exactly picture perfect cannon. have fun. have fun with the makeup, outfits, wigs everything. make friends. cosplay has been such a great way to make friends. hope this helped

Amazon has some great wigs to use if you can't afford the expensive stuff! All of my wigs are from amazon and they are great Try to avoid mapofbeauty though, many of their wigs are super thin and hard to work with! Try and get wigs you don't have to style much and can use them for many different cosplays. Thrift stores are your best friend!! And lastly, try and get a crimping iron as soon as possible, they help a lot with fluffing up and styling wigs!
