I dont understand why there are 2 sexuality for being gay and lesbian. I don't think there is a need for mlm and wlw if you already have gay and lesbian which mean the same fucking thing. I don't know if this is homophobic, but im genuinly confused and want to know why mlm and wlw exsist if gay and lesbian are already a thing.

i think its bc not all mlm are gay and not all wlw are lesbian

(like bi, pan, or unlabeled mlm or wlw)

like wlw just includes all women loving women (regardless of label)

and mlm includes all men loving men regardless of labels

I don’t think it’s rlly a different sexuality but I feel like gay has kinda become a general term (unfortunately) for the entire lgbtq+ community. So it’s kinda just a subcategory in lesbian or gay
