Perler Beads vs Pony Beads

When it comes to the bead market today, it seems that perler beads are more mainstream,

I was wondering why is it that perler beads have a larger following then pony beads, They are both equally as Awesome

but seems as if pony beads have been forgotten or not as popular, could it be because the way its marketed or advertised?

What makes these crafts great when creating? Are either choice of beads limited in possibilities of creations?

Let's Have a friendly discussion on what kind of beads you prefer, Pony Beads or Perler Beads?

HI!rainbowsmile

One of the things I think that may make people have a deepr appreciation for Perler beads compared to ponies is possibly that perlers can be made to make certain characters and pictures with more accuracy. Yeah, you can make a pickle rick pony bead cuff, but it'll take more beads, more time, and it may not look exactly like it; Perler beads on the other hand can be made to have more distinct patterns that are easier to see maybe? I personally like working with pony beads a little more and enjoy making huge cuffs.

Now that I think about it, maybe people are doing more perlers recently because it's easier to do and understand; the more complicated stiches in the pony bead cuffs and stuff can be frustrating if you're new to kandi. Perler beads, while they take more time, is sticking colors to a pegboard and melting them down (no way am I dissing people who do perlers! those take a long time and take a lot of patience to do!).

Howver, I presonally enjoy making stuff with pony beads a little more. I like making perlers, but the stiching process and giving someone a huge ass pony bead cuff is the best feeling in the world!! But I also understand why some people might prefer perler beads <3

Good Vibes!!

I think it is because perler beads are wayyyyy easier to make whatever you want than pony beads. Many limit themselves in their imagination and do not understand that there is much that you can do with pony beads. I'm currently making myself armor xD people are so blown away. I'm always like YOU can do this too! It's just like making a mask. Just a tad bigger. kao happy

@KandiBells: I definitely relate to you sooooo much! I'd much rather give a giant piece of pony bead art than Perlers. Part of the reason is I don't like that perlers just break in half when I'm raving and I don't want to spend up to 20 hours on something just to have it break because somebody was dancing and having fun. THAT'S no fun at all.

I think it's because Perler beads are easier to learn, I still haven't successfully made a pony bead project (except for singles) tongue

in my experience perlers are easier to use and customize and they have more applications. sure pony bead charms make a good bracelet or necklace, but perler beads can be displayed in different ways. once saw someone with a whole wall in their room filled up with perler bead creations, it was pretty dope
