I feel like the kandi scene is almost dead

I've only been to one rave this year and haven't been on this website for like a year and now that I've come back I feel like the scene is dying. There aren't as many kandi kids as there were a few years ago. Anybody else feel like that too?

@Laurel: Don't worry about being to young. It's about the love and happiness. I started making Kandi before I went to any events. And a lot of my friends fell away from it even though they used to make Kandi. When I attended my first event, I found that there were many people with Kandi. I was really shy at first. A couple people approached me. I didn't trade a whole lot that night. The next events I met a lot of cool people. But I had to approach people. Just be brave and talk to people if you ever do go to events. I don't know a single person irl that makes Kandi anymore but I go to events and always find people with kanditogepi

i want to agree with you, but I feel like I don't have the right because I'm too young to go to an event, so I haven't been to one. like I know people used to make it a ton and take it super seriously, and that's the way I like to keep it. if people ask me about my kandi, I still explain it to them and how trading and all that stuff works, and some people respect it and some don't, but I've taught about 10 people in the last 2 years I've been making kandi, and only 2 have completely stuck with it. with the scene "dying out," I'm afraid that when I go to my first event, I wont have a good trading experience. so I guess that's how I feel about it.

I've been in the scene for 17 years and depending on location and type of party the scene fluctuates. I started out Kandi in Florida in 1999 and stopped wearing Kandi when Junglist hit the scene real hard out there. Now that I'm in Cali the Kandi scene is alive and well and I'm now getting back into it. Some of the parties are different but the people change more than the parties and then a new crew moves in and it starts all over again. It's hard to find old schoolers who have been into it for over 10 years... Old skool used to be 5+ years I don't know if that still stands that was in the late 90s early 00s . Kandi has been around for along time and I don't see it going anywhere anytime soon.

I agree with you guys. I used yo make more things but now that I have a lot the only thing I make is singles to trade at raves. And raves have changed. I noticed the Kandi scene has really changed. People don't look at Kandi as something that represents friendship and kindness, they look at it as just part of an outfit. There isn't anything wrong with making some things that match an outfit or is personal to you, but too often I see people with a few pieces of Kandi and nothing to trade. Lots I people like that will approach me and ask for Kandi. I'm happy to give stuff to people who are starting out and are interested. But these people are rude and demanding. They demand pieces of my Kandi and don't say thank you. I try and teach the plur handshake to anybody who doesn't know it but some of these people won't even try. Maybe I'm just being jaded. confused

@cookies143: I

feel like maybe people are not as active anymore, I am sure the scene is still around,I Still spend time making things for myself

but maybe things need to be brought to light for others. The community itself seems a bit introvert/quiet It will take people like us to keep it alive!
