New Site Theme

Hi everyone,

I am in the process of switching the site over to a new theme which is designed to be easier to use and mobile-friendly. I also made some improvements to the site features.

At the time I am posting this I have not yet made the theme live, but I will be making it live within an hour or two (the time now is May 31st, 2:30pm PST).

Major Site Changes:

Search: You can now use checkboxes to filter by multiple pattern types, meaning you can choose to see both perler and mask patterns Pattern categories: Although I don't yet have the same filtering set up for categories, the pattern types you can choose are more specific. You can choose to see things like masks and bikinis instead of just "multi" and "peyote." Many of the text fields around the site have a new text editor, and in some areas the text editor has an image icon which lets you insert an image directly into the body of your text. There are lots of new emoticons!

Pattern Maker:

The pattern maker is still not mobile-friendly but I am working on that and that will be coming next!

Attention mobile users:

If you would prefer to see a desktop-style version of the site, scroll to the bottom of the site and there is a link in the footer which lets you switch to desktop mode.

Have you found a problem or bug?

Look in the site footer. There is a link for Report a bug / problem with the site where you can report it to me.

Is there something from the old theme that you really miss?

I will miss certain things about it too, but unfortunately the design did not lend itself to a mobile friendly design so I had to redesign everything. But if it's a feature or simple style change that I could possibly add into the new theme, I might be able to do it for you! Just comment on this thread.

@Crumpet: Yes it is touch screen, well the "touch" doesn't work anymore, but touch screen laptop nonetheless, Thank you!

I had a bunch of specially made patterns that I wasn't willing to share and since the change, I can't find them. Please tell me they are still there somewhere... Loving the new look by the way, just worried about my patterns

So, I had a friend request and accepted it, but now the little 1 friend request icon thingy won't go away, even though it says no new friend requests ;o Will it go away on it's own?

@tsixxx: if you look underneath the pattern image when on a pattern page there should be a blue button which says "Copy to Pattern Maker." It will say this for MOST patterns but not all, some older patterns cannot be copied (it has always been that way). Is there a specific pattern you were trying to copy and couldn't?

The link to "Your Stuff" has moved to the top left blue bar at the very top of the site. The reason I moved it is that it was not working very well to just show small previews of all your stuff on one page. I wanted each piece of content (photos, patterns, etc) to have its own page so you could see everything more easily.

I love the new theme! However, I noticed when trying to save a pattern to "my stuff" that option is no longer available meaning I can not upload it through the pattern maker and make changes to suit what I'd like to do. Am I missing something?

I am so happy you made the site mobile compatle and the new search features are very exciting!! ugh and these emoticons are wonderful too ! A+ for the update!!

@Auspicious_K: Have you tried clicking on "My Stuff" from the top left of the site on that blue bar

(right along the top)? The "All Patterns" page should show you all patterns, even the ones you haven't made public or shared.

If you've done that and the patterns still aren't there, please message me with which patterns you think were deleted. No patterns have been deleted so there must be some other reason why they aren't showing up.

I had several patterns that I had saved, but that I hadn't made public or shared and now I can't seem to find them. Have they been deleted?
