I have never been to to a raver party even though i know people who have. I wear cuffs and singles like all of the time but am i allowed to call it kandi or do i have to call it just a bracelet? also does kandi have to be made with pony beads or do they just have to be plastic?

No. You don't need to be a Kandi Raver to wear kandi. There's a lot of people on here that are Kandi Kids and haven't been to a rave yet. I haven't even been to one. happy You can still call it kandi. You should make them with pony beads. You can use other beads with the pony beads (for example: I make a kandi single with pony beads along with silver beads). happy Here's a link if you don't know what a Kandi Kid is: http://www.wikihow.com/Be-a-Kandi-Kid-(Girls)

Personally, I'm not old enough to go to raves yet (I just turned 16), but I still make and wear kandi all the time. I plan on going to raves when I'm 18, though. I say you can rock kandi all day and night if you want, if you're a raver or not! big grin

Kandi has gone well beyond the rave scene but it seems inseparable from the culture itself. I would say just be aware of the origin and the relation to it. It doesn't mean you have to rave but understand that their are lots of people who will assume you do because of your love of a craft born from that culture. happy Hope that helps.

No, you don't have to be. Nobody can control what you do, its your choice. Just be Aware, some people may not like you.

Kandi is a simple way of expression. When I first started making and wearing kandi I hadnt been to a rave yet, but I still knew many who had, and who taught me about the culture. I loved the scene well before even getting into it. When I first started making kandi I didn't even know about sites like this one so I was all on my own with creating stuff. I even made a bikini one way (completely f'ed up looking now that I look back) but then after a few trials I figured out a better way to make them and then found a website with the tutorial and felt really dumb. But I still figured it out myself. The reason I told you about this is because I figure out ALL of the things I can make BEFORE I went to a rave. My parents knew I wanted to go and did not want me to be in that inviornment so I respected their wishes and refrained from sneaking off to one without their consent. My first rave was the weekend after my 18th birthday, at Only in LA '10 but I was well into the rave scene before hand.

Nope! Crumpet [creator of the site] even says that you don't have to be. As long as you respect the culture, what kandi means, know what PLURR means and live by PLURR and you aren't wearing kandi for the wrong reasons; there's nothing wrong with making it if you aren't a raver happy <3
