I use medical tape. You can get it for $1-2 in the first aid aisle. The downside is you end up with weird gooey black bits stuck to your hands XD But it beats tearing your hands up. Also, keeping your hands moisturized helps too. I've thought about trying athletic tape, but I've never used it before.

I have learned that I like to wear band-aids on the fingers I use for tying off and such. It's also helpful when I crochet. I have got rug burn on my fingers from where the yarn constantly runs across them.

Gloves maybe or duct tape? I've never worked with fishing line but I bet the would prevent it tearing up ur fingers happy

band-aids usually start coming off after a bit of working with fishing line..but i found that medical tape works best.

also, don't pull it so tight lol that's when it starts to hurt. having it steady is one thing, pulling it to tight can make it cave and buckle and look weird lol does that make sense??
