making a kandi belt

when making a kandi belt, is it good to measure it with an ACTUAL belt or measure it by the wasteband of the jeans/shorts?? /gen

also, what's a good string to use? i'm using like that bad clear elastic cord

when i made my belts i just measured around my body and added a little more length to my belt so i would be sure that it would fit me i think i used elastic string or something but i’m not sure, works well tho
