I started making kandi after my friend at college introduced me to it! Our college's anime club actually does a little kandi making booth at a winter event hosted by all the school's clubs and that's where I made my first 2 singlets. I made a few pieces here or there but I started doing cuffs and more complicated stuff this summer. happy

Started making Kandi (and raving) to cope with depression. I would wear it under my jacket sleeves n I'm a super gothy/emo looking person and having bright bracelets only added to the saying "It's what's under the skin that matters". I attended events to get away from bullies and the real world to be somewhere I was accepted and loved. Kandi is a reminder that it only gets brighter and more colorful as life goes on. I have a few memorial pieces that at dedicated tribute replica's to friends that have committed suicide, who's original pieces I keep at home for they are falling apart. But kandi is my escape.kao happykao coolheart bounce

My story isn't that great but here it is xD… I was talking to my friend who had moved away recently over Facebook and happened to see a mass amount of bracelets on her arm in her profile picture. I asked her about it and she explained to me what kandi was, and to get a better idea I googled it, found this site, and saw what amazing things could be done with beads and string. Still, I didn't really make any kandi at all. Later on, I learned a lot more about PLUR and the culture and what it meant in the rave culture. When I found out about how much love is put into kandi, thats when I fell in love and started making it. Now I'm the bead girl at school that's constantly giving out bracelets, whether you ask for one or not! So in summary, I started making kandi mainly for how much happiness it brought others when I would hand them a bracelet, and the amount of love the kandi community has.

I love finding stuff like this on the internet, I am SO glad I met these AMAZING people about 5 or 6 years ago. Now, when I bring them up in a conversation, people are like "wait.. Like Matt and Ali from Under the Electric Sky? with the kids?" and I'm like "Yup. Kendra's my best friend." xD Not only are they well known on the internet and by every raver I've ever met, they're both acrobats! Matt and ali are both ex-performers for Cirque Du Soleil, but now Matt is a Rigger (he works the ropes and stuff backstage) My best friend and her family are somewhat famous. Holy shit. xD http://edmmaniac.com/married-at-edc-with-children-...
