Perler help?

z_b0n3_r0tt_z 1/1/2022 04:18 pm 726

When I make perlers they always look ugly and are full of different sized holes and it looks lumpy around the edges. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong? I may be using my iron for too long but if I only do it for a short amount of time it still looks weird and is very flimsy. Any tips?

if youre using multiple different brands (or even ages, like new vs. 10 yr old) of perlers, they may melt differently from eachother. make sure you gently move the iron in circles over the beads instead of letting it sit still, that should help them melt more evenly

are you setting the iron directly on the perlers and leaving it there or are you moving the iron around? Because if you move the iron in a slow motion over the perler it makes the melt more even

Have your iron on a medium setting, move the iron in small circles all over the piace, put a heavy book over the top so it doesnt curl.

make sure that your iron is at a medium to low setting.

For keeping it smooth and flat, I like to tape over my design and take it off the peg board and put it on a flat surface. This is so it lays flat and your peg boards don't warp happy

press down a bit, make sure to go over evenly and don't have your iron up too high.
