Thin, thick, elastic, wire, fishing line? Which do you use and does it work good and if so what does it work the best for making.

DONT USE FISHING LINE. It curls up easily an doesn't tie well.

I use bead n stretch, and my friend does as well. I don't really like really stretchy string, bead n stretch does stretch but not as much as fabric covered (though fabric covered does stop stretching at one point cause you know.... It's fabric...) but I don't normally just tie it, I do the around the finger knot thing .-. I do that twice making sure the knots overlap and it's stays :3 but if it's a cuff I do the three loop thing... But fabric string does have its uses for certain bracelets that I want to be extra sure don't break.

I use elastic cord for big kandi pieces because I've heard those work really well. Other then that I use pipe cleaners to make great kandi singles. happy

Depends on what I'm making! For big cuffs that can stand on their own: Thin fabric coated elastic For small cuffs that need extra support: StretchRite elastic (found with the sewing notions and elastic, NOT with beads) Peyote things: Simple clear firm plastic thread that I found in my basement I'm probably one of the few people out there that isn't crazy about thread like StretchMagic, but I admit it has its uses. (I'm using it now because it's great for threading through pom-poms for a crazy cuff I'm making, haha!!) In general, it really does depend on what you're making. Thread isn't too expensive, so you do have a lot of leeway to experiment!

I get my string from JoAnn's because it is close to my house, but I buy Darice Jewelry Designer in the 100yd so i dont have to go every day. This is all personal prefrence (sp?), but I use .5mm strong. There is a difference, it doesnt stretch as much, but it is...well...strong. I think only Darice sells the strong type, but yeaah. It is $20 a roll, but you are getting 100yds.
