Can someone pls explain gender/pronoun hoarding?? /gen /lh

I get using a single or maybe 2 or 3 binary/nonbinary genders and xenogenders, but why do people 'hoard' them? someone told me it's like a hobby which I'm not sure if that's correct but it made me upset at first to think that some people use gender/pronouns as a hobby. as someone who uses a set of neopronouns, I get it, it's nice to have pronouns/ a gender that connects to your soul or heck even something you like, but i dont get why it all needs to be a gender that you can hoard?

I'm genuinely curious because I've never understood it. I support all xenogenders/neopronouns/gender/pronoun hoarders, keep in mind. I'm just curious as to why

@urloverboy: whenever i read a definition & it feels right!! like i dont collect every term i see cuz a lot of the time they just Aren’t Me, yknow?? (not sure if this makes sense, sorry D : /g)

It's super hard to find just one label that fits you. So, many people use lots of gender labels to make them feel comfortable. They hoard the genders that make them feel the most comfortable.

for me personally its bc my gender is,,, a lot of things, and when i find a term that fits i’ll use it!! but bc my gender is so many things i end up with 500 genders

I am not considered a "hoarder" but I do have 5+ xenogenders I identify with. This is because I do not really understand gender all that much and instead I can identify with the things around me so that will obviously lead to many identities. It just feels more comfortable to have many labels that fluctuate than have one or two that don't really work

i think a lot of the genders that involve neopronouns are just like the “new age” of kinning (like vampiregender, sansgender (the undertale character) and possumgender. some arent included in that “definition” and mean more than just heavily relating to an aesthetic/ character. like some undead genders. So in some cases if you think abt it like THAT it makes more sense.

It could also be like they dont feel any real connection to any gender and can relate to all genders because of that, so they dont really mind what their identified as so they identify as everything.

Idk i have a few neos and this is just how i personally work
