Design copying /srs

im noticing quite a few copied designs being submitted recently....everyone please search related keywords on this site before voting for a design, im finding some patterns from several years ago being resubmitted on here by different users, and unless like 5+ people remade their accounts and for some reason want to reupload an old design of theirs, this is still art theft.

and PLEASE dont steal peoples designs, theres less morally questionable ways to get attention on the internet

@blebble_toof: the problem with reuploading someone elses work with credit is that with the way this site is set up, theres no way for voters or mods to discern someones intent to credit, and theres no easy way to check if the original uploader consented to it, so i think we should just avoid altogether and work off of screenshots if the pattern itself doesnt load but the image does.

@MKENNY: I disagree, I think that there are plenty of original designs on here, but to be fair there are a lot of copied designs.

But also (not directed at you MKENNY just in general) with the years old patterns, I think that remaking it is ok if like the patterns don't load so that other people can access them, yk? I've had that happen to me a couple of times where there was a cute cuff or perler pattern I couldn't use bc the image wouldn't load bc it was too old or something kind of dumb like that.

Anyways, I think the best thing to do in that case (and for any pattern really) is that if it's not your pattern, GIVE CREDIT TO THE ORIGINAL AUTHOR/ARTIST/CREATOR. Especially if it's a direct copy.

@gasky: the only time i see it would be (somewhat) ok is if someone makes a pattern bigger or smaller to fit them and accidentally makes it public but even then I don't think that's peoples intentions lol
