so the past couple months have been pretty bad because I “broke-up” with my toxic best friend because it felt like she didn’t care about our relationship and she replaced me easily. I have to see her around 3 times a week and it’s unavoidable, and everytime I see her I break down and Im kinda considering seeing my school counselor to talk to her about this but I don’t know if she’d be helpful or if she’d tell my parents. Can some of u guys tell me your experiences with school counselors and if you recommend me seeing one?

tw metions of s/h sewerslide

my experience with my school couseller was really good !! but before you go, i would reccomend considering things. do not tell your cousellor about s/h or sewerslidal thoughts, they are legally obligated to tell ur parents. they can help with things like friendship problems and school and stuff and mine helped me to get to therapy so i would recomend them but idk about US school counsellers so be safe

TW// slight mention of s/h
cheer
i think you should go for it!
sure, it may not work out the way you want to, but in the end you at least TRIED to reach out for help and thats amazing!

just try not mention anything that could get you in trouble.. (hurting yourself, hurting others, drugs, etc etc)
if you do however mention s/h, make sure you make it clear that you havent thought about hurting yourself in the past month, even if you have.

My Experience With My School Counsellor Wasn't Great. She Didn't Give Me Any Advice And Just Told My Parents When I Said I Wanted To KMS, And She Actually AVOIDED Talking To My Friend Sooo... Yeah... You Should Always Try Though Cause Your Experience May Be Different To Mine.

@p1c0nj0: sad sorry about that, I keep hearing stories about shitty counselors and they suck

@pinkpursepear: thanks, yeah the lady I talked too told me that too, that they can’t tell ur parents anything. But I keep hearing counselor horror stories where they break that but I think I would be fine because I’m not really considering harming myself or anyone else or anything like that

@rotten_meat: thanks for the advice, I’ll definitely ask if we have a social worker/phycologist, although odds are we probobly dont, my school is a small charter school so they probobly don’t have the need for a phycologist :/
