How do you even begin a project like this?

Well I just barely started making kandi a couple months ago and I am having a little trouble planning a project. I'm trying to make a pikachu costume completly out of beads and well I was wondering how to make the tail. Does anyone have any suggestions, advice, links to tutorials or know how I can get started? Thanks

if you wanted to make a kandi tail. i suggest using bead tool, get a good image from google of pikachus tail from the side view, then lay the image under the bead layout to the size you want it to be and make the pattern. once you have a solid big pattern of the tail, make two of them! and cut a cardboard, or something stiff enough to hold them up, after put the cardboard between the two tails, and weave the edges of both the panels together all the way around. and that's how i would do it so maybe you might want to too ! thumbs up

Halodiablo used some stiff paper or fabric type thing as far as I know, so its not made of beads because im sure if it was made out of beads it wouldnt hold up its shape very well and would be lagging if you know what I mean?

You could do a standard, flat peyote-stitch of the tail. Making a pattern should be relatively easy, as long as you're careful with proportions. But if it's part of a costume, it should stand up on its own... The only way you could really do that would be by using wire instead of string. Or maybe you could start with it in elastic/other string material, and place (obviously thin) wires through the completed piece to hold it up. That's really all I can suggest ^^; Sorry if this isn't much help. It sounds like a really cool idea though, so good luck with it. c:
