how to start a flat kandi pattern (not cuff)??? plz help T-T

im new-ish to kandi and have stuck to making cuffs but want to make other things and have no clue how to start one of those flat patterns?? like how to tie it off and everything i just keep messing it up :"(

Flat panels, charms, masks, etc. tend to use peyote stitch! Here's a tutorial on how to make a simple peyote cuff (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5kPGSYI-WaM), and here's a video that explains how to follow the pattern (https://youtu.be/Rvtym6zsUdo?t=230)
