Um why are there comments advertising random games all of a sudden? I mean I haven't clicked on any of the links but I feel like they're bots or something ToT

Edit: I saw some on like especially big threads like the "how'd you find ur gender !" one and also "who's excited for school?"

It's only a few but I rlly hope it doesn't end up escalating into something bad o__o''

Sorry, you are unable to reply. If the thread is still open, you might have been blocked from commenting due to spam or abuse, or we might not have been able to verify that you are a real account. Try updating your profile and interacting more on the site. There are greater restrictions on forum comments due to spam. Spam comments will still not be published, even for verified accounts

Yep, they are bots or could also be people paid to post spam. We have a lot of different protections in place against bots/spam (Akismet + Cloudflare + captchas at registration + custom spam protection), but a few sometimes manage to get through somehow. I delete them and ban the accounts when I come across them. I think I might need to turn on comment approvals for untrusted accounts. [edit] I turned on comment approvals for certain accounts. It will also affect some real users but should help to cut down on spam.
