idea- organize patterns

okay, so i wanted to throw an idea out there for the new website. since the website has expanded to more than just cuff patterns, the website patterns looks more bunched up. i was thinking that it would be a neat idea if they were more organzed, like tabs under the "kandi patterns" section where you can choose what kind of pattern you want to see like , kandikinies, ties, cuffs, masks, etc. i hope its possible. 78.gif

oh okay, I see what you're saying now happy well I think the new tabs will be just as easy, if not easier. I might actually get rid of the buttons on top because they are in a bad place up there. almost nobody clicks on them. i think it makes more sense for them to be right above the patterns (in the form of tabs) lol, I just checked and 0.39% of people click on them.

Lol I as just saying that after asking about the checkboxes, I actually decided to try out the tabs on top, and apeently they were pretty easy, and I thought before it was hard to do. laughing

The tabs wouldn't work with checkboxes though because only one tab can be selected at a time, so the tab would still say "cuffs," but you might have both cuffs and perler patterns below it. That would be very confusing. The search feature has checkboxes like that though (see left side of attached pic). Plus, the tabs alone increase the processing power needed to run the site, because they increase the number of possible pages which means most of the cached pages will expire before another person gets to view them. Without accessing pages from the cache, the server is under more pressure. Checkboxes would create a huge number of possible pages because of the combinations. So I won't be adding checkboxes to the main categories unti I can see what effect the tabs have. One day I would love to just combine search and categories like a lot of sites do, but I need to see what kind of stress the search puts on the server first before I can consider doing that.

Crumpet, yeah that awesome! Also I should add that it would be pretty cool if in the top buttons ”multi stitch, peyote, fusebead, all” ,. It would be cool if next to each of the titles there was a checkbox to click on if you want to see them. That way you can click and see, 1,2, or 3 dfferent type of pattern layouts at once. Im saying, because I think that would make it a little more simple and easier to use, because i know ive had my share of problems figureing it outx) lol

I've already added more specific pattern types on the new site: bikinis, masks etc like you say, but I wasn't planning on using tabs to split them up. That's a really great idea and I'm using tabs in other places so I could easily do that. Do other people think it would be a good idea? I could also make it so that if you click "perler" (for example) in one category, perler will also be automatically selected when you click onto another category. Similar to the buttons on top, but more convenient.
