ugh kind of a rant but needs to be said

i use pinterest a LOT, and on just insta tiktok and specifically pinterest, ive been seeing a lot of 'iNdIe' content, theres 100% nothing wrong w being indie and its a really cute style but my main problem is 1: a lot of the people from this subculture used to make fun of scene kids and some still do and now are claiming to be alt kao no2: theyre using a lot of kandi related stuff in their style and dont rly even know the story behind it (this ones kinda dumb but makes me upset) 3: theyre all claiming to be alternative while still being VERY VERY mainstream not only in their music taste but in the way they dress too. uhm yea im done now but plz lmk in the comments how u feel abt this!! angry

indie music is just music that isn't created under a record label, and indie fashion just takes inspiration from indie musicians. It's really not that deep.

Yeah I mean I agree on some part,people are trying to be alt by wearing cowprint,dying two strands of their hair or like very mainstream things ,not to gatekeep but most people who do this have bullied alt people in 5he past or don’t understand the meaning behind subcultures. So I kinda agree

@D3ADC4TZ: totally agree! pony beads are advertised to children; are you going to tell a child they can't use them? Kandi is meant to be an accepting community, based off the ideas of PLUR, so gatekeeping in inherently against that! sad

the only thing abt this that annoys me is chavs putting on flares, cow bags and a oversaturated filter and being aLt :/
