no quirk//

some context: i got my phone taken away back in january and in march i tried to steal it back (very bad idea on my part , i shouldnt have done this) and obviously got in more trouble - ive grown a lot as a person since the end of december-early january (i was really immature and i'm trying to be a better person now) but im not sure my parents have noticed?

the main reasons i want it back is because i feel left out from my schoolfriends (they made a groupchat and seem to be having a lot of fun without me), and im really limited in what i can do for fun (i love to draw, animate, write, edit n take photos, and my school computer only has ms paint and a crappy camera-)

does anyone have any ideas for what i should say??

as someone who used to get grounded A LOT, i can definitely give you some advice big grin

1. find a good time to talk to your parents. i would recommend a time where all of you are seated and present in the room, like, for example, when you're eating dinner.

2. address what you did wrong. the main thing an apology should contain is stating what you did wrong, say you won't do it again OR say what you would've done differently, acknowledge that you messed up and were in the wrong. (note that you may need to reword this, it depends on what you got in trouble for. example, if you got a bad grade, you might wanna talk about what was giving you trouble and ask them if they can help you to make sure the same thing doesn't happen again.)

3. say the magic words: "sorry", or "i apologize".

4. then, do what you're actually there to do, which is ask for the phone back. talk to them about how you've changed as a person, and then say, "mom, dad, i hope you can take my apology into consideration. may i please have my phone back?"

5. this is sort of a bonus, but if they say something like "we'll talk about it", "maybe", or "i'll think about it", DO NOT continue to ask them. give them some time, and if they take a week or so, ask them at the end of the week, but do not ask them every day. that'll only make it worse.

i really hope this helps,,, ^^'

i hate it when parents take away phones. they always say how they never had phones when they were little but they dont understand that times have changed and things are different. i would just explain how you have changed and maybe ask politely. also, with covid, activities are limited and seeing friends is limited so maybe include that you want to talk to your friends as well.

Try saying you feel like you deserve it back? its been long enough and you've grown as a person so try saying smthing like " hey so could I get my phone back?I feel like its been way too long and I havent been able to speak to my friends. I feel like I've grown as a person and I'm not sure you guys are seeing that. Not trying to tell you what to do or anything but it would be nice if you gave it back" idk if that helps/works but i hope it does
