I’m autistic (diagnosed with Asperger’s/ASD). If you relate to almost all of the symptoms, there’s a good chance that you might be autistic. However, if you want to be more certain, I’d recommend taking lots of online tests and also looking up the diagnostic criteria and coming up with examples for how you fit each part.

If you’re still convinced that you’re autistic, you might want to decide what to do with that information. If you think you need support at school and/or work, you’ll most likely need a professional diagnosis to access that. If you just want to understand yourself better and learn how to take care of yourself (e.g. sensory aids or how to avoid burnout), self diagnosis and online research might be enough.

Diagnosis is quite subjective anyway. I don’t know for sure that I have autism, because there’s no test that can diagnose it with 100% accuracy. They can’t look at my brain and tell. What happened during my diagnosis is: I was observed, and my behavior seemed autistic, and then my parents and I were interviewed and I needed to display 10 out of 18 possible symptoms, with a certain amount in each category. I had all 18. But for all I know I could just have brain damage or some other condition causing those symptoms.
