Being a raver?

Do you have to go to raves and stuff to be considered a Kandi Kid? I really like making all the Kandi stuff but raves aren't really my style. Would people consider me a poser? And when I say it isn't my style, It just means I'm not close to the scene and don't really know where to find raves, not that I'm refusing to go or anything. Just wanted to clear that up happy

If you live by plur and know the culture and intend on going to a rave you are a kandi kid. But if you just make kandi and say raves are for druggees and whatnot than do not call yourself a kandi kid

Kandi Kids are ravers, simple as that. If you refuse to go to a rave because that is not your scene then you are not a kandi kid. But I had harsh parents when I was younger and I made kandi with the intent on going once I turned 18. That day has long passed and I havent gone to many event simple because I am tired of certain kinds of people ruining the experience for me, but I will go to see some new DJs and meet new people and spread the love I have for the scene, and its P.L.U.R. btw the second R was added by new kids because they couldnt remember to be responsible already (what I've heard from older ravers) Also I dont believe its really Kandi unless its being used in a rave type scenario, if you dont rave and dont want to rave it is simply fancily beaded bracelets. (the plur comment wasnt to the original poster btw if anyone was confused, just stating a fact that I know)

Hmm... Well, personally I don't go to raves, though I love making and trading kandi, listening to EDM and such, but I don't think I would ever consider myself a kandi kid. I really think that you can only be a 'kandi kid' if you go to raves and are a part of all that, like... the label should really only be used to describe ravers. Regardless, that shouldn't stop you from making kandi and other related shenanigans. :3 That's just my opinion on the subject, of course. happy

In my opinion, you dont have to go to raves to consider yourself a kandi kid. I myself dont attend raves. But I think its the love of the art of kandi and showing your creativity through what you make that makes you a true kandi kid. big grin

I live by PLUR, so I don't care personally one way or another. But generally, I think it depends on circumstances. Alot of people have strict parents, and can't get around them easily enough to go to raves. But if you personally choose not to go to raves because you don't like them, but you insist on wearing and making kandi, it seems sort of like a contradiction. Because like they said, kandi originated from raves.

I personally believe that you have to be a raver to be a kandi kid. And I know a lot of people, who rave, that agree with me. Most of the people who justify it as being okay don't happen to rave. But that's just my opinion.

in my opinion, I think that as long as you live by PLUR, than people will respect you. some people will disagree, but in my opinion you do not have to rave to be a kandi kid. happy

I'm not going to lie to you. Yes, many people will judge you, mainly because kandi originated from raves as a form of remembering the night and the people. Yes, some people will judge you. But on the other hand, there's a lot of other people that don't care if you rave or not, as long as your respectful and not arrogant and stuff to ravers. In my opinion, it shouldn't matter if you rave or not. If you want to classify yourself as a kandi kid, i think the only requirements are that you make kandi and you live by P.L.U.R. Besides, if you're happy, it doesn't really matter what others say anyway. Nobody can stop you from making kandi if you really enjoy it.
