Please check for patterns before making new ones :)

Monarch 7/28/2012 02:35 pm 2846

This is a general notice to everyone. We really don't need this many duplicates of the same thing (for example there really shouldn't be 40 blood on the dncefloor patterns) So PLEASE before posting a pattern check and make sure that it is Unique.

"leelitheunicorn":
what about them? are you suggesting that we clear some of them out? I'm not suggesting anything. I just think that it's unfair that there's so many plur patterns(and how everybody makes EVERY ninja turtle) and nobody else gets to have anything.
I don't get the whole "and nobody else get to have anything" Honestly the patterns that haven't been approved have had many, many duplicates.

I think people need to calm down about getting upset at their patterns not getting accepted. If all they are doing is reapeating ideas they have already seen then yes they shouldnt have their patterns posted. and they could always just make their pattern themselves and post it and if people like it they can figure out the pattern from the picture (I've stated this in another post but feel it would work well here as well)

Well keep in mind that this post from Monarch is quite new. Since she posted this we've been trying to cut down on duplicates, but I do personally let some repeats through if I think they are unique enough. There's a difference between a generic PLUR cuff and a huge PLUR panel with lots of detail, for example. There's also a difference between a basic Hello Kitty head and Hello Kitty in a costume that hasn't been done before. Also, I am constantly dealing with messages from people asking why their patterns weren't accepted. If I'm on the edge about accepting a pattern, and I see that this person hasn't had any accepted and is getting upset, I am more likely to approve it to keep them happy. I have to constantly balance what's best for the site visitors vs. what the pattern submitters want. I can't be totally ruthless about approving patterns, because people would stop uploading.
