was making a diff post saying how they kept being used incorrectly and i want to actually like properly say why i dont like them
One thing is that some of them are increadibly vague and dont actually help with getting your point across, like a /nm or /hj is never as helpful as putting "(joking on the first bit)" or "(not mad, just annoyed") at the end of what you said. Like sometimes using very vague one to two letter abbreviations that not everyone even knows (as its grown far beyond whats needed) can make it more confusing rather than less confusing, which is its intended use
Plus the blatant misuse of them but i made a diff forum about that
Another thing is that if someone doesnt want to use them or doesnt like them, theyre literally called abellist for simply not wanting to use a tone tag to communicate the tone of their message (has happened to me and have seen it happen to others)
Also, please keep in mind that even if someone is autistic, not all autistic people are the same. Yes these can help autistic/neurodivergent people, but not every single person that needs help with tone actually thinks that tone tags are the most helpful way to do that
Also before i get attacked again please keep in mind theres also a high chance im neurodivergent and i also highly struggle with tone/mood, just dont like tone tags
