Why patterns get denied

Stamps_the_cringe 2/16/2025 11:29 am 313

Apologies if this is listed somewhere, i could not find it,
im just genuinely curious on why a couple of my patterns were denied.
it states that you can "(see reasons below)" but theres only the basic "dont copy others patterns" text, neither of the 2 patterns, to my knowledge, someone else has created a similar version (though i very well may be wrong)
Is there any way to see/know the reasons outside of copying patterns ?

P.S. I got your message but I am leaving it unread for a few days because I can't approve the pattern until it's been up for a few days.

I think there used to be a post somewhere explaining the rules for valid patterns etc but I'm struggling to find it so maybe it never existed.

Off the top of my head, patterns that get rejected are usually:

  • Inappropriate or offensive in terms of language or content
  • Invalid patterns, e.g. perlers attached by too many single diagonal beads (which might not stick together), or cuff patterns with an odd number of columns
  • Stolen either from another user on this website or elsewhere on the internet
  • Too similar to existing patterns
  • Too many color variations for a pattern. We generally don't need red, yellow, blue etc - people can swap out colors on their own

Unfortunately there is no reason stored against the rejection, so I don't have a way of displaying the reason. It would slow down approvals even further if we had to select a reason each time sad

@Stamps_the_cringe: yes, you can remake it. That's fine. I think it would have been approved otherwise, so message me when it's up. It has to be a few days old before I can approve it though, because brand new patterns don't show in the approval queue.

@Crumpet: ah okay, one of them does seem that i messed up the column amount,
i guess people reported my slenderman cuff ? that one i can see there def might be someone who made the pattern before me, so ig that makes sense

am i allowed to remake the cuff with the odd bead count to fix it ?

The only ones I rejected today were invalid cuff patterns (cuff patterns must have an even number of columns), had too many reports, or one was even stolen from me and adjusted slightly

hmmm maybe it didn’t get enough votes?
