I have made two skirts and lots of bikinis. I always use stretch magic string (a plastic string). For smaller projects I use the smaller diameter, but when I make the bigger stuff I always use 1.00 mm diameter. It's a lot sturdier, and allows you to string it more tightly. So it gives a bit but not too much. I have to say though everyone has their own preference. Some people say the 1mm stuff is too hard to work with, it may take you a little longer, but I guarantee it won't fall apart. But I always use buttons as a closing mechanism so I don't have to worry about how to get it onto my waist.

personally I am using embroidery string, but then again I a not having the skirt connect to itself. But instead, have it tie together on the side

elasticated (cloth covered) string just make the prt that goes around your waist make it a little smaller than your waist is so dont pull it very hard on that prt because if u pull elasticated string hard enough it wont streatch any more on the other parts pull it tight but not to tight you want the skirt to flow and if u pull it to tight itl just be stiff ok i hopee this helps BYE big grin
