Voting no more than once?

How does Crumpet or one of the moderators know if someone has voted more than once? It says only one vote per person on the Vote to Approve Patterns page, and that multiple votes from the same computer will be ignored. I'm curious how the moderators know if more than one vote has come from the same system.

I'm not trying to find a way to cheat, I'm just curious about how that all works...

What @SavviKardynal said is true, but there is actually more to it than that. There are three layers of security for voting. Nothing too extreme, but you would have to get around those three small blocks to be able to vote multiple times.

I am officially working on the site again, slowly... because I am ill, but I have left my full-time job!

What I have started on now (as well as reviewing the queue), is adding a "report" button to the voting page so that you can help flag patterns which are stolen, duplicates, inappropriate etc, so that the approval process can be sped up and get back to what it used to be and hopefully mostly automated eventually!

Well, you can only vote once for each pattern, unless you have multiple user accounts. Once you hit the "Yes, accept this!" button, it'll show that there's another vote added, and the button turns into an "Undo vote" button. So really, there's no way to vote for something more than once with the same profile. I'm assuming that they just stated that on the page so that everyone would be aware of it. kao smile
