is cloth covered elastic string better then plastic/clear elastic string?

im still a semi beginner at this (started in september) and i know a few stitching things but i dont know all the tips and tricks or the best string to use x) ive been using clear string but ive heard those degrade/stretch out super fast and ive heard cloth string is good, but i just wanted to confirm for myself incase i go to the crafts store soon!!

i also wanna know if theres any way to get the specific colors that ppl use for patterns here irl? not as of a pressing question im just curious on that

(sorry if all thats confusing i have a cold and a headache rn 513b55c71219e_kao_cry.gif )

edit: thank you everyone!!! i dont feel like replying to everything but ill get some cloth string soon! :] (and i feel like i should add that i glue my knots for the plastic string but i dont think that changes any opinions lol)

@Anthrax: i think thats just to check the colors? i was wondering how to get those colors irl like buying specific dark blueish grayish beads or smth outside of those huge containers with every color (ty anyway though! :])

Cloth is much better. I only use plastic for securing objects to cuffs and things that need transparency, like when I made my friend a peyote gameboy charm that had a clear screen. If you get the rainbow string it makes a neat pop of color on the edge of the cuff. (For keychains and dangles I use satin cord and put E6000 on the knot, because elastic doesn't like the stress of going in and out of my pocket.)

I think its waaayyy better! Plastic CAN (emphasis on can cuz it takes awhile) dry rot they also can untie when I used it I had to secure it with nail polish. Cloth colored is also better for cuffs I think it gives them great structure like plastic without the struggles I mentioned. I mention structure because for singles I use a kinda dental floss like string cuz its cheap and still works!

i personally think its wayyy better and easier to use and like it way more but idk what the general community opinion is, ik a lot of people prefer to use fishing line instead tho cuz it is super strong but its harder to use i think

also with cloth its super easy to tie knots so its even rlly easy to just tie a simple knot when adding more string to a project and not have to worry about it coming undone

cloth covered feels a lot more firm and the knots stay better while plastic feels.. interesting? and knots come undone easier bcs theres no friction

also w cloth covered u can choose different colors rainbowsmile

clear string doesnt rot as quickly as people say it does and its easier to wear because its sort of even if that makes any sense whereas cloth covered is less comfortable to wear because in some places it will be pulled tighter than others and its really hard to adjust but in the end it comes down to personal preference i guess but you could use cloth covered for charms and stuff (hopefully this makes sense lol)

I’ve said this once and I’ll say it again DON’T USE PLASTIC STRING! It breaks super easily and it’s not very stretchy if you want your Kandi to last long use cloth covered! /nbr
