I need help with my perlers! The melt is uneven and my boards are warped after single use.

I’m totally brand new to perler. I know I’m doing something wrong because when I had my mom’s help the other day my perler projects turned out perfect. After I used 2 of my boards once they warped really bad and I need to know how to un warp them so I can keep using them (I only have 4 and don’t want any more). 513b39525823e_crying.gifAdditionally, I tried my best to melt the perler evenly, but the beads just weren’t melting on some parts and I don’t know why. May I have some help? 513b3952760e7_sad2.gif

PS — the smiley pictured here is my 3rd perler project.e37a677139df8e689170859814a80e5f.jpg

once you finish a pattern, VERY CAREFULLY put masking/painter's tape over the top of it, making sure it's completely pressed down. Then iron it!! (4 the warping of peg boards, we dunno how to help on the uneven melting part)
