Kandi kini/bra help needed

Hi guys, I'm pretty much brand new to making kandi. I've made a few masks from patterns I've seen on here, but really wanted to try making a kandi kini/bra.

I've got the "cups" made, but I'm not sure how to connect them, and I'm a bit confused about how to make the top strap with the pattern I'm using.

Here's how the connecting part looks on the pattern.

And here's how the strap looks

I could just be looking at it completely wrong, but it seems like I'm supposed to weave diagonally. I'm not sure if that's correct, or how I would even do that without there being a full line to work with..?
