It can be tricky to know how much string you'll need in advance... is that what you're asking? Or are you wondering how much string most people typically use for a surgical mask so you can buy supplies?

If you're asking the former: you'll find that the amount of string you need can be affected by the type of string and how tightly you pull it. I don't know for sure, but I think it must also be affected by how you string the beads in the mask... some people have different ways they like to string, and I can imagine some stringing methods require more weaving than others... and more weaving = more string. What I've always liked to do is start out with a piece of string that's as long as I'm comfortable working with, and then tie more on when I need it. Over time you might notice that you're using X rolls or half a roll etc.

If you're asking the latter: just go and buy LOADS of string, loads and loads... fill a shopping cart full. You'll need it at some point LOL monkey

I use stretch magic and I use ALOT. Start with the length of your wingspan because you can always add more.
