just, think about patterns you have seen

I have just joined the site as well, so I know how daunting it may seem to use the pattern maker, however if you have ever drawn something in Microsoft paint, the pattern maker is basically a very zoomed up version of the pixelated lines you would draw in there. My suggestion would be to look up any YouTube tutorials for making kandi patterns, but all I did to try to make the two patterns I have on my page was to just go for it and see what came out. Draw out anything you have pictured in your head or referenced and clean up any spots that look out of place. Making a kandi pattern is just as much an art form as making the kandi project itself, and each artist is their own worst critic. Go for whatever your heart desires, you'll pick things up naturally in no time!

I would go with relatively easy things, such as 8-bit,16-bit, and PC box sprites. NES sprites are also good candidates.

If you're a gamer, like me, I would also Google the sprites of the particular character you want to make. Try to find the big sheets that have an array of different sprites. It might give you some inspiration.

Last thing: Don't forget to have fun!!!

When making sprites, try to go with things that are already pixelated, like 8- or 16-bit game characters. just fave fun!!!!!charmandercharmandercharmander

Try to start out with the easy stuff and Google pictures of things similar to stuff you might want to make. Stare at said pictures for a while if you can't figure out how to do it, and try to envision possible ways to achieve the desired shape. Choose the easiest one and go crazy. As you gain more experience, your collection will grow. Good luck finding places to put all of it~ Stay PLUR(R).
