In September im going to see KoRn, I’m super excited but I’ve never been to a concert before, I know it’ll be overwhelming for sure, I have a sensory processing issue and I was wondering if anyone here has any tips or suggestions or anything like that. 5148668e72710_animal01.gif

Be sure to wear something that wont bother you with a lot of movement!, i mean- you will be jumping and dancin and silly stuffs :3 BRING LOTS OF WATERRRRRR: i know the first time i went to a concert i brought most of this stuff lolz , but i was still getting a bit overloadedtongue Ummm idk what else oh also… HAVE FUNNNNkao tongue

these r kinda general concert advice but id recommend taking breaks to go into the main area of the venu and de-stress whenevr u need (if the band is ever offstage or taking break), bringing water and snacks (especially safe foods) (u might hav2buy them if the venue is like that tongue), sticking w/ sum1 (concerts can DEF b overwhelming + possibly slightly unsafe depending on the band's fanbase w/ out sum1.) DRINK WATER NOT SUGARY DRINKS @least 4me, I always get headaches aftr jumping around and only drinking like Gatorade or smthn. bring a SMALL comfort object, preferably that u can hold in ur pocket that u don't care Abt 2much (if it gets lost). wear a removable sweater/jacket etc. to put on or take off depending on the temperature, EAR PLUGS/HEADPHONES IS A MUST. If possible, please try not to opt for the cheap crappy ones DO YOUR RESEARCH, you'll thank me later (my cheap earbuds failed me lol).

idk if any of this stuf helps u as much as it duz 4me, but mayb u got smthn out of this list big grin I'm excited 4u, + hav an awezum time @korn!!!!!1!!!!

@purrm4id: ah yeah I got a pair of Loops for it big grin they seem pretty good so I think it’ll be good, and yeah I get that, I mean I figured maybe a music thing wouldn’t be as overwhelming since I actually enjoy music lol. Thank you!! animal02

ik alot of ppl mentioned ear plugs but wearing something loose and comfy helped me too! it gets kinda hot so maybe bring a zip up sweater that u can take off when u feel hot with a comfy shirt under. i wore a mesh shirt once to a mosh pit and my piercing got stuck on it and ripped :/. also wear some comfy shoes cuz u will probably be standing and jumping a ton!!! happybring water cuz u will be screaming and come with someone u trust cuz some korn fans r crusty old men sad2 just have fun and dance and scream!!!!

hi!! I’m autistic and I have pretty bad noise related sensory issues, music is one of my special interests and I go to concerts a lot!! I recommend getting yourself some earbuds- loops are really really nice but if that isn’t something you can get I know you can buy a pack of foam earbuds that are meant for construction!! for extra protection I wear my bose noise canceling headphones, and ear defenders also work very well. make an escape plan for yourself if you do get overwhelmed!!! it helps me to have someone come with me and this is gonna sound weird, but since music is one of my special interests I don’t seem to get as overwhelmed as much as I would with another noisy event shrug

If you can spare a little extra money, *high fidelity* ear plugs specifically are supposed to be great for this! I haven't tried any yet (ordering some before a concert later this year myself, thought) but an audio engineer/musician recommended them to me and mentioned the overall sound wouldn't be impacted quite as much as it is by regular earplugs.

thank you guys so much!! heart bounceI’ll keep all this in mind, I’m gonna get some better noise cancelling headphones (the ones I’m getting were made for concerts) for it, and I’m going with my dad. I appreciate all the tips a lot, thank you again animal04

maybe if you can, bring someone you trust to help you out if you get overwhelmed?

as others have said, earplugs!! i went to a rhcp concert recently and let me tell you it was LOUD. wearing earplugs didnt make it hard to hear the music, i actually felt like i could hear it better? idk sounds weird but it's true. also i'm not sure what venue youre at but you should probably know that people will be touching you the whole time. they really cram as many people in there as they can. even if you have good seats its shoulder to shoulder so i would prepare for that.
