Kandi mask ear loops breaking. Need help!

Hey guys, so I've had to re-tie string on for my ear loops like 4 times already and have only made it today. When I take it off and on the string snaps sometimes. I'm using elasticated string and doing a surgical knot. I've heard you can put nail polish on these knots to make them hold, is that true and is there any thing else that could help hold these knots? I have to keep the loops pretty tight/small because the mask will fall off my face if the loops are made of more string. Should I just try to put on four-five knots on the string or does anyone weave through other beads to help re-inforce the strength of the string? Not sure what to do. Please, any help/advice would be amazing! Thanks. Edit: just tried with one string starting from the top right and left respectively and weaved to the bottom of the sides and tied multiple knots. Hopefully these knots hold

You should try to make sure to tie a few more knots on the kandi mask. I learned that when I made a kandi perler necklace. it kept untieing and falling off. then I learned what the problem was. the nail polish technique works but you can also use some clear glue or hot glue. careful with the hot glue though if you use it. many try doubling the string or adding a thicker elastic? if its really tight just take off a few beads and make them smaller. nail polish works a little but not that much for me so use hot glue or super glue unless you have good knots. hope this helps ^u^

i would tie the knot then use either clear nail polish or super glue (and yes the nail polish works winking )

What ever you do to "hold knots" will probably help to keep the knots in tact but that doesn't mean your strings wont snap, use a better string, I prefer fishing line or a fabric stretchy string.

you could also try doubling up on the string if it's snapping. if it's your knots, try to make sure they're really tight. when I made my masks, I usually do 3-4 knots even though I use a 1.2 mm string for straps, just to make sure

If anything, try using fishing wire. That is much stronger and will last much longer than elastic.

i think it depends on how tight your knots are & also the size of your string. if it's .5 or .7 then you'd have to tie 2-3 knots to make sure it's secured tightly. if its 1.00 or bigger then you'd only need to tie it once since it's pretty thick & strong as well. when you tie them on, make sure you pull really tight, not tight where the string pops off, but tight enough where you know for sure that the knots you tied are secure & theres no possibility of them slipping or coming undone. slip the mask on after you're finished & see if that helps.
