As crumpet already explained raves below, im 15 but have been going to raves that are in anime conventions since 14. Ive never been to a rave by itself. Its ok to make kandi at your age happy i started making it when i was 13 too. And i disagree with crumpet saying not to call it kandi, kandi is just the jewlery and the trading and all that, it doesnt necesarily have to do with raves, although it is what ravers wear.

Raves are typically electronic music dance parties which last all night. There are "underground" ones which take place in warehouses or deserts, and other large mainstream parties with tens of thousands of people which can barely be called raves, like Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC). Some people at raves make and trade beaded bracelets as a sign of friendship, and these bracelets are called kandi. Kandi and kandi kids originated at raves, and some people believe that it's not kandi unless you're a raver. Raves are associated with drug use though, so if you are 13 you should not be attending them. Personally I think it's fine for you to make bracelets. If you take away the rave connection, kandi is essentially pony bead jewelry and kids your age and younger make pony bead jewelry all the time. Just be careful about calling it "kandi" if you don't want to be associated with raves.
