Pony Bead Sweepstakes Winner!

Congratulations to Andrea_plurss who is the winner of our first Pony Bead Sweepstakes! Andrea, please check your email and kandipatterns messages. For those of you who didn't win, don't worry. There will be more opportunities, and the next one will be a contest rather than a sweepstakes :) Here's how the winner was chosen: I placed the usernames/emails of everyone who entered into a spreadsheet and then randomly sorted them using RAND(). I then used a random number generator to generate a number between 2 (the first row below the spreadsheet header) and 144 (the last row in the spreadsheet). The number it came up with was 89, and Andrea_plurss was in row 89!

I thought it was kind of odd myself. Thanks for looking into it anyway.

A 4 page list of other members? What? That's so weird lol. I checked ModBot's logs and there's no record of it sending a message like that. I don't even see how it's possible because the messages are all sent separately, not in a batch. It must have been some kind of weird glitch. I'll have to watch and see if it happens again.

Ah, well that makes more sense. Thank you Crumpet, and yeah It was my photo that was deleted but along with my message of deletion, I got a 4 page list of other members who also had their photos removed for the same 'list' of reasons, all of whom looked to be sweepstake participants as well.

I'm confused. The sweepstake photo entries weren't all deleted. You can still see them here: http://kandipatterns.com/sweepstakes/win-pony-beads-1 Or do you mean that yours were deleted? Either way, the ModBot never gives a specific reason for the deletion. It gives a list of reasons, any one of which could be the reason. We recently got a couple of new mods so they might have accidentally deleted some photos. As for the photo not being a requirement, it was a last minute change I had to make for legal reasons. I was going to require a photo and choose a winner randomly, but it turns out it's illegal to do that. If you pick a winner randomly, you can't require people to do something that involves effort/skill/money. You have to give another, easier option for people to enter. That's why when you see contests on TV they will often say "or mail in a postcard" For the next one I am going to make it an actual "Contest" not "Sweepstakes" so I can require photo entries.

Congratulations to the winner! A question however: All the sweepstake entry photos were deleted but the reason given by the ModBot was because of photo quality. Was this suppose to happen? If so, why even offer the option to download photos for the contest when you could enter without using a photo?
