How can you make something with an odd number of colums?

...I miss count a lot of my patterns. :S I think its a cause of a number of confusion to people but most of the time the extra count is the difference between a size and a half size on things so people only have to account for one more bead or one less to make something work for them.

Depends what the "something" is. For cuffs you always need to have an even number of columns for it to work properly, but you can make flat panels with an odd number of columns. To do that you need to use "odd count" peyote stitch instead of "even count" peyote stitch.
