I think some people take some jokes on this website too far and then begin to cancel someone for making a joke abt it. My friend kept making jokes abt DSMP and lots of ppl started attacking them for not liking DSMP. Like if you like DSMP you do, but no need to be all upset when someone makes fun of it. You can get upset abt it or just not care. Personally, if you don't like that then just don't come after the person for not liking it or vice versa if you don't like DSMP don't come after others who do.

I also don't think America is as bad as ppl say it is. Tbh this place has lots of freedoms other countries don't have. I want to make this clear however I am NOT a conservative or liberal. It's JUST my opinion. I know this sounds crazy, but I enjoy living in America I like that you can have freedom of speech, I like how you can have freedom of religion, freedom of expression, freedom to vote, and every other basic right. I love how pretty America is and I love how gross it can be. I love all the good and bad it has.

I also think this website should have a sideways thumb to show if you disagree or agree not fully with the comment. I think it would be really helpful

As I've said before I think DNI are dumb and a lot of people call me a hypocrite for saying this as I have a DNI, but even with a DNI people are still going to interact with you no matter what you do. My DNI doesn't include all the needed things that people put in it like "DNI if your this or this", because I think that's ridiculous. I'll admit I do have homophobic/transphobic friends, but does that mean I'll just tell them to DNI just because I disagree? No, because that's dumb I may disagree with them, but I'm not going to purposely bring up stuff we disagree on. Plus doing DNI or BYI only work online (sometimes), if you are irl they don't work at all (Imagine if you tell someone if they are whatever you dislike to DNI that would be dumb just tell the person you don't like them and move on). This brings up my other opinion.

Liberals and conservates can be friends. They can be friends even if they disagree. A lot of people seem they can't because their views are so different which is completely false. As I've stated I'm in the middle I don't lean any side really, but I have both conservative and liberal friends and I going to be rude just because I disagree if your on either side? No that's just dumb. People are allowed to have differing opinions and you shouldn't force your views on them while you can hope they can change their minds it won't always work.

I think that it's just best not to bring up politics in general with friends

i think i've wound up saying this on every thread but separation of art and artist is crucial to ethically consuming art. there are obviously boundaries, but art being problematic in itself isn't necessarily a sign that the artist is a terrible person.

i use r/pe me by nirvana as an example of that. the lyrics themselves are incredibly offensive, but the song is from the perspective of a perpetrator as a means to comment on the culture Cobain saw around s/a at the time. many people assumed, and still assume, that Cobain is pro-s/a because of the song. But he wasn't. He just felt that the best way to comment on that culture was to show the mindset of people who think that way.

then we have art that isn't problematic, but the artist is. The fact that an artist is problematic doesn't necessarily mean that the art is now tainted or invalidated because of the artist. A good example of this, I think, is The Front Bottoms. Brian Sella has allegations against him, but that doesn't change the emotional impact of their work as a whole. Their art is not just theirs, because it's changed through the interpretation of people who view it. that's often the point of art. art is still the creation of a person, but it exists outside of them as well. there's a lot more to this concept, but i just,,,,do not have the patience to type it. so yeah :-D

pepsi an coke r nasty idk why theres such a thing as pepsi vs coke they both suck

if someones persona is problematic id like to think they themselves are problematic as well(dont know if this is an unnpopular opinion but ya)
