I'm the only person who's never made a ladder stitch bead lizard at camp, so I grabbed this $5 kit Saturday to see how it would go. You're supposed to get enough beads, clear string, and keychain hardware to make a crab, a fish, and what I think is meant to be a turtle. I made the fish tonight.
GOOD: The instructions are very clear AND you get BIG color pattern sheets for each animal.
GOOD: Three keychains (actually they're the plastic findings for putting mascots on bags).
GOOD: The string is cut into three lengths.
BAD: The string in my package is not clear. It's some kind of jute. This means it will be susceptible to moisture. The string on the package art is white plastic.
BAD: The pattern colors do not match the photo colors at all, especially on fish and turtle.
BAD: There are not enough beads. I had to dig into my stash to get enough black to finish Mr Fish, and will have to do the same for crab and turtle. I think there's enough for crab, but Have my doubts about turtle. He will probably be a lizard. I don't know if this problem is just in my package or all of them.
TO SUM UP: This is a bag of disappointment, especially considering that Mondo Llama usually makes quality stuff.
Using Turbobeads's toothpick/soda straw hack will almost certainly give better results.
