@em_is_here: 's cool. You only have to tell him what you're comfortable with him knowing, is my thing. Like, the last guy I broke up with it was absolutely necessary to tell him that the stalking should not start before the first date and he was super weirding me out. Your guy, you've got factors like do you want to be buds anyway, do you want to be out/ish and is he trustworthy with that, is he a sparkling vampire... So honesty is usually good, but it is totally okay to keep your own comfort in mind.

Just be honest, Tell him hes a great guy (or that you enjoyed being with him) but you have come to the realization you are les and you would rather be friends instead (or however you wanna put it)

I'd say just be honest with him. Tell him you've hit a point where you're unsure of your sexual orientation and you want to step away from the relationship in order to explore new avenues and get to know yourself better.
