Advice on getting to sleep quicker without getting bored easily and getting up? I've had this problem with no visible solution and a lot of people who don't have trouble sticking to one task say stuff like "Oh yeah just lie down and close your eyes and let your brain go empty". So please no advice like that lilmushrooms

1. white noise, whether playing from a phone youtube or a machine.
2. music that makes you happy but not hyper. the dancies arent for bedtime!!
3. weighted blanket. the first night I used mine i fell asleep and did not move fur HOURS.
4. making sure distractions that'll keep you from sleeping are somewhere else- hide the ipod, hide the vhs tapes, hide the books etc.

@nemu: Same here, sleep meds are the only thing that stop me from going 24+ hours without sleep nowadays! trazodone has been a HUGE improvement on my sleep. I've been on it consistently for a year, and now some days I can sleep without it because I'll just lay there and make up a scenario in my brain that's really familiar and comforting, and my brain dozes off on its own. I often think about rearranging furniture or a writing idea involving my OCs, if those topics help OP.
I also find it really hard to fall asleep if i don't have specific things, trying to keep things consistent helps me a lot with sleeping (plushies in the same place, pillows the same, same blankets, same sleeping position, etc)

@DanisaurEyebrows: well actually !! taking too much melatonin makes u stay awake !! too much melatonin (or a melatonin overdose) makes it so your circadian rhythms will be disrupted, making it so you can't fall asleep. its like when you have too much candy (too much candy makes you super sleepy), it does the opposite effect !! so eating an entire jar of melatioin will just make it so you can't sleep for anyone, not just for ppl with adhd /info /nm

@gaethoughtsheadfull: Try to multitask!! It always works for me when im having a hard time trying to stay awake. I also recommend putting in headphones and listening to your favorite playlist on almost full volume-(Optional)

to be honest the only thing that has worked for me is medication. not even melatonin works on me. i take trazodone now and it works wonders, but of course ymmv. if youre able to talk to a doctor abt it i would recommend doing so
